Jayne Kelley (1985) is an editor and writer based in Chicago.
She is currently director of the Architecture and Design Open Archive, a new study and publication center based in the schools of architecture and design at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC).
She also teaches at the UIC School of Architecture, where she previously managed events and communications.
From 2013 to 2017, she worked at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), most recently as managing editor in the publications division.
She is co-editor of American Framing (Park Books, 2023) and The Museum Is Not Enough (Sternberg Press / CCA, 2019; second volume forthcoming) and co-author of The Western Town (Hatje Cantz, 2013). She is associate editor of Building Practice (AR+D, 2023); AKT II: Matters of Engineering Design (ArchiTangle, 2022); and Blank: Speculations on CLT (AR+D, 2021). Her writing has appeared in Area, Clog, the Journal of Architectural Education, MAS Context, NESS, and Flat Out, where she is a member of the editorial board. Through her freelance practice, she has copy edited dozens of manuscripts and has collaborated in various ways with the Architect’s Newspaper, the CCA, M+, the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize, and several architecture and design firms.
